Joint working reaffirmed

28.08.2022 - The new Leaders of Powys and Ceredigion County Councils have confirmed their commitment to work together to deliver two major programmes of work.

Councillor James Gibson-Watt of Powys County Council and Councillor Bryan Davies of Ceredigion County Council were both elected new Leaders of their respective organisations in the Local Government Elections in May.

At their first in-person meeting at this week's Royal Welsh Show, they confirmed their commitment to working together to deliver the Mid Wales Growth Deal and the Mid Wales Corporate Joint Committee.

The Mid Wales Growth Deal is a ground-breaking partnership bringing a combined investment of £110m from UK and Welsh Government, which is expected to lever in significant additional investment from other public and private sources maximising the impact in the Mid Wales region.

The Mid Wales Corporate Joint Committee is one of four established across Wales to strengthen local democracy and accountability by integrating decision making in three key areas: regional transport, strategic development planning, and economic wellbeing.
